Lion Gary has been a Lion for 12 years; his home club is the Buckeye Lions Club. He served as president for two years and on the board of directors for eight years. He is the father of the Buckeye Lions Foundation (a 501(c) 3) and has been selected as Lion of the Year by his club three times.
Lion Gary joined the army in 1966 and served for three years; two of which were in Vietnam.
He worked for Arizona Public Service Co. for 35 years retiring in 2005. The last 20 years at APS he was in middle management and retired as an area manager in Buckeye, AZ.
While in Buckeye, Lion Gary served on the board of directors of the Buckeye Chamber of Commerce for five years; serving as president one year. He was selected as the Buckeye Man of the Year in 1997.
He graduated from Senior Lions Leadership Institute and has served as Zone Chair and as the Guiding Lion for the Sundance Lions Club. Lion Gary has been married for 45 years to his child bride, Margie (a third generation Arizonan); they have four grown children and five grandchildren. He and Margie live on 10 acres of land south of Avondale, AZ.
Lion Gary joined Lions because he loves giving back to his community, helping kids and the schools that educate them so they will become valued leaders in the future. He believes that service projects should have purpose, and that purpose should be to build and serve the communities we live in.
Lion Gary loves the outdoors and is an avid hunter and fisherman.
